Effective June 1st, City Hall and 971 Wilson Road offices have Updated Hours of Operation. Both offices will operate Monday -Thursday from 7:30am - 6:30pm and will be closed on Fridays.
Updated Court Operating Procedures (05.14.20)
Please be advised that if you are scheduled to appear in the city of Riverdale Municipal Court in the near future. Due to the current health crisis, we will be implementing new processes and procedures as it relates to court access and adjudication. You may be asked certain health-related questions before being allowed to enter the courtroom.
- Your temperature may be taken and if you have a temperature higher than 99 you will be asked to leave.
- You may be required to wear a mask while in court (yes you can wear your own)
- Please do not bring small children to court with you during this time.
We will be making a conscious effort to remain compliant with social distancing guidelines and limit the number of people in the courtroom and lobby. The courtroom will be set up to allow no more than 50 people at a time and the lobby will be set up to allow for 15 seats. This is to notify you of any changes and to notify you of when you can come into the courtroom.
Most citations can be paid online at www.riverdalega.gov or via an automated phone system by calling 1-844-590-5690.
If your intent is to enter a not guilty plea please contact this office via email (email@example.com) for further instruction.
In the event you are a member of the vulnerable population and do not feel comfortable appearing in person please contact us and we will schedule a video hearing.
Failure to appear or pay your citation may result in a warrant being issued for your arrest and your driver’s license may be suspended.
Jurisdiction and Composition
The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over violations of State law and local ordinances that occur within the city limits of Riverdale.
These violations include most traffic-related violations and some misdemeanors charges such as:
- Shoplifting less than $300.00
- Possession of marijuana, less than 1 oz.
The Municipal Court is comprised of two divisions:
- Traffic Court
- Environmental Court
Traffic Court adjudicates most infractions that violate state law. Environmental Court is responsible for adjudicating violations of local ordinances.
The Court also has a Probation Division which monitors defendants who have been ordered to complete special conditions by the Court, as well as those who must pay fines and fees as assessed by the Court.
